Developmental Edit: A Comprehensive Look
Extensive ways to improve your manuscript are presented in an editorial letter and comments in the manuscript.
What is a developmental edit?
Ideal for writers who have a solid draft but need help with rewriting and getting closer to a final draft, this is a more detailed edit that discusses ways to improve overall elements like story, structure, pace, tension, dialogue, and character arcs, as well as specific details. This edit includes an editorial letter as well as comments within the lines of your manuscript.
Who is it for?
Whether you have a first or almost final draft, I would like to help elevate your manuscript. I believe in a collaborative approach, where I make suggestions to improve your manuscript but allow you to implement the changes (I am always happy to discuss if needed). I edit with clear communication and positivity in mind – I want our collaboration to be useful and I want your book to succeed.
Fiction is my specialty, especially historical fiction and crime, thriller, mystery, and suspense. I read broadly and enjoy anything that is dark, quirky, magical, intense, funny, or unexpected.
I am available for manuscript assessments, developmental edits, line edits, proofreads, and submission package assessments. If unsure which would suit your writing project best, we can discuss and decide together. My services are always bespoke and will be tailored to your project’s needs.
I would love to learn more about you and your writing and have the chance to work together. Please get in touch for a quote or to discuss the type of service you need.
